Thoughts already on what her day would consist of, she didn't realize that an obstacle had appeared between her and the steps down to the street until she ran full force into it. Looking up, she could not help but laugh at the mischievious smirk spread across Dylan's face. "Good morning Elizabeth, running late again?" She had to strain her neck to truly see all of his face, "No Dylan, just lost in my thoughts." She took a step back, not because being close to him was a problem, she'd known him for the last 4 years, but because it was easier to look him in the face the further away she stood. He nodded at her, wished her a pleasent day and went inside.
On her way to the subway station, she couldn't help but to think how lucky her friend was to have met such a wonderful guy. Dylan was as close to perfect as could be. He was a musician, having mastered several instruments, he was a really nice guy and he was hot also. However, even adding in all those factors could not top his love and devotion for her. He basically worshipped the ground she walked on, never played with her emotions and really listened to what she had to say. Being honest with herself, she even admitted to a little bit of jealousy, not over Dylan of course, but over not having someone to love her like that also.
Half way to the subway station, she got the weird feeling of being watched. Looking around, she saw nothing out of the ordinary, if you could call an over populated city where everyone was a stranger, ordinary. She quickened her steps the rest of the way to her destination, noticing that the further she went the worse the feeling grew. Looking behind her, she failed to see that she was about to step out in front of a moving vehicle until a man reached out and pulled her back on the curb. Twirling around, she came face to face with a man that seemed as though she knew, but couldn't place him.
"Maybe you should be a little more attentive m'lady, I'd hate to see you run down on the streets of this fine city." Looking into his eyes, she tried hard to place him, but was drawing a blank. "Um, thank you.....I really hate to ask this, but do I know you? I feel as though I do, but I can't place you..." He released her hand and smiled, "Well, I do recognize you from the museum. I have seen you in there quite a few times, I assume that you work there, correct?" She smiled up at him and nodded, "Yes, I've been there for a while now. I love it, I am so fascinated with all the art."
"Yes, well, I always go on Fridays, I have since I came here. I am on my way there now, if you would not mind the company of another fan of art to tag along." Looking back behind her once more, she remembered the feeling of being watched, it was still there, but not as bad. She looked at this man who seemed so friendly and decided that he was the lesser of two evils, so she accepted his request for joining her on the remainder of her trip to work. She just hoped in the back of her mind, that she wasn't making a deadly mistake.
